Tools Developer/Maintainer - Senior #2078

About the Role
The Senior-level Tools Developer/Maintainer will establish and guide criteria for evaluating tools, technology, and software to identify automation opportunities. The goal is to develop tools that enable more agile and efficient execution, including forecasting future technology and architecture to support systems engineering processes. These tools will be hosted in dedicated cloud and container environments.
Responsibilities
- Assess and support the integration of tools into NGA IT unclassified and classified environments.
- Direct preparation of program-level and user-level documentation.
- Support and maintain applications, databases, and their underlying platforms (Windows, Linux) in classified and unclassified cloud environments.
- Plan and execute the migration of engineering tools into the cloud per NGA policy and government guidance.
- Follow established processes and complete documentation to ensure systems and applications achieve ATO (Authorization to Operate).
- Oversee activities to maintain Virtual Private Cloud environments in RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS/C2S, or similar cloud-based environments.
- Install, maintain, configure, back up, troubleshoot, and secure virtual servers and applications for unclassified and classified operations supporting Agency foundational engineering services.
- Monitor and provide recommendations for capacity management, system utilization, storage planning, and database performance.
- Manage and provide cloud hosting cost impact analysis for planning purposes, monitoring burn rates using government-approved cloud estimation tools.
- Guide implementation, integration, and maintenance of tools such as ServiceNow, DOORS Next Gen, and System Architecture to ensure data integration and process automation.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, or similar cloud infrastructures and services.
- Working knowledge of Windows or Linux system administration, including software installation, configuration, and performance monitoring.
- Experience supporting IT security activities, including maintaining STIG compliance, reviewing and mitigating IAVA security scan reports, and providing documentation for Authorization to Test (ATT) and ATO.
- Development and maintenance of documentation and technical specifications for IT staff to plan and implement infrastructure upgrades.
- Support for regular backup operations and implementation of data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of incidents with minimal disruption.
Qualifications
- DoD 8140 (DoD 8570) IAT Level II certification.
- Master’s degree plus 10 years of experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience, or
- Associate’s degree plus 14 years of experience, or
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a relevant field.

- Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Compliance Requirements.
- SAFe Agile (Scaled Agile Framework).

- Terraform/OpenTofu.

Pay
Target salary range: $134,700 – $195,300. Salary is determined by factors including scope and responsibilities, individual experience, clearance, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, geographic location, and business/contract considerations.

Locations: Washington Metro Area or Huntsville, AL.
Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI required.
