Senior Tool Designer (Onsite)
What You Will Do
The Senior Tool Designer will actively maintain and improve knowledge of tool design, machines, engineering standards, procedures, new technology (materials, hydraulic and/or pneumatic clamping, ) through training and education.
Provide engineering consultation on manufacturing processes, possible tooling and gaging requirements, and cost/delivery analysis
Work primarily on fixtures for manufacturing, work holding, special tools used in machining and assembly
Develop and implement cost reduction programs consistent with Lean Manufacturing principals
Lead or participate in cross functional project teams designed to introduce new products, improve existing products, better our manufacturing process or, advance our competitive advantage in the marketplace
Determine practical approach to determining tolerance as it relates to manufacturing process requirements
Provide estimate for the number of hours to design, process, and manufacture and inspect tooling components to support all facets of final product delivery
Evaluate equipment and process needed to complete work
Use computerized design and computer aided engineering tools to perform job duties
Knowledge base of various materials
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of experience in an aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or tool room environment OR an Associate's degree and 10 or more years experience in an an aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or tool room environment
- In absence of a degree, High School diploma/GED or equivalent and 12 or more years of experience in an an aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or tool room environment
- Experience in design of aerospace tooling, fixture gages
- Proficiency in NX design software
- Previous Tool Die and Gage experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
