Tools and Materials

The Tools and Materials Logistics Technician provides site personnel for procurement practices, tool use, storage, inventory, and vehicle maintenance. Develop an assessment of the site for procurement practices, use, storage, inventory, and maintenance of tools, equipment, supplies, and vehicles. Develop an action plan for addressing identified issues. Work collaboratively with all team members to improve efficiency, time management, fiscal responsibility, and accountability for client-owned items.

  • Be prepared for rapidly changing tasks influenced by timelines, space restrictions, safety concerns, or any number of factors.
  • Implement preventative maintenance (PM) plans for site equipment and tools.
  • Coordinate with client team members, vendors, and overseeing agencies to ensure appropriate or mandated steps are followed for compliance and team member safety.
  • Make or facilitate repairs on tools and equipment.
  • Work with client team members or vendors as needed.
  • Adapt to site changes and needs as necessary.

Tasks

  • Collect, inventory, and create lists for assigned tool bags and site tool carts.
  • Utilize “Box” program for inventory and tracking of tools, equipment maintenance records, and site supplies.
  • Develop preventive maintenance (PM) for equipment in need of routine service.
  • Conducted 6-month charging maintenance on Alber, Flir, Fluke, and other electronic tools.
  • Performed annual UTV fleet services PM's, including electrical cords and GFCIs quarterly with appropriate color marking.
  • Scheduled 2-year full service and inspection for site trailers, monthly servicing of cluster vacuums, monthly audits of cluster toolboxes, monthly electrical safety checks, and annual inspections of heavy equipment, lifts, UTVs, air quality testers, calibrated annually, heavy equipment, lifts, quarterly, and annual inspections.
  • Ensured electrical safety by testing gloves annually, blankets tested every two years, and sticks and ground clusters tested every two years.
  • Managed hard hat lifecycle replacement every five years, bicycle and tricycle service annually, added assets to “Asset Essentials,” and corrected existing entries for uniformity.
  • Assumed existing PM work: laundry 2 weeks, first aid/PPE monthly, weekly OSHA inspections on heavy equipment, lifts, UTVs, air quality tester calibration annually, heavy equipment, lifts, quarterly, and annual inspections, UTV monthly run hours, F-350 annual transit van annual, 5S garage, 5S shop, other projects completed or in progress.
  • Cleaned and organized several spaces on site, including, but not limited to, cabinetry, stairwells, several storage rooms, administrative areas, shop, garage, conexs, and maintenance shed.
  • Maximized the use of cleaned and organized spaces by utilizing existing site storage cabinetry, bins, racking, and toolboxes.
  • Collaborated with team members to develop a tool inventory application in development.
  • Developed a site vacuum service and use and return plan to ensure long service life and technician access to functional vacuums.
  • Collected, evaluated, and gathered input on supplies received from vendor job “takeback” and re-purposed, stored, or recycled items as needed.

Future Projects

  • Develop a list of items needed for new site buildouts, such as tool carts, cabinets, ladders, etc.
  • Develop a plan for efficient use of warehouse space and stored supplies that may be made available for use by other client sites.
