Responsibilities
- Machine complex tooling and fixtures working with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering
- Create and proof CNC programs using Proto-Trak
- Set up and run of manual machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, saws, etc.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes (2 axis) and mills (2 axis) in prototype and production environment
- Develop, fabricate, and sharpen various cutting tools and specialty tools
- Inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) features using basic and advanced inspection techniques
- Cut open units to complete production operations
- Afford assistance shop management in training shop employees in common machine shop practices and company specific processes and procedures
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency in trigonometry
- Working knowledge of computers
- Understand the mechanics of chip formation and metal cutting
- Knowledge of ANSI/EIA RS – 274 (“G” code NC programs)
- High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution
- 5+ years’ experience in trade as a tool maker
- Experience or formal education in design/drafting with emphasis on CAD
- Resides within a reasonable commuting distance
- US person within the meaning of ITAR
- ITAR defines a US person as a US Citizen, US Permanent resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee
- AS in technical field preferred
