Toolmaker

Responsibilities

• Machine complex tooling and fixtures working with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering
• Create and proof CNC programs using Proto-Trak
• Set up and run of manual machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, saws, etc.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes (2 axis) and mills (2 axis) in prototype and production environment
• Develop, fabricate, and sharpen various cutting tools and specialty tools
• Inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) features using basic and advanced inspection techniques
• Cut open units to complete production operations
• Afford assistance shop management in training shop employees in common machine shop practices and company specific processes and procedures
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High mechanical aptitude
• Proficiency in trigonometry
• Working knowledge of computers
• Understand the mechanics of chip formation and metal cutting
• Knowledge of ANSI/EIA RS – 274 (“G” code NC programs)
• High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution
• 5+ years’ experience in trade as a tool maker
• Experience or formal education in design/drafting with emphasis on CAD
• Resides within a reasonable commuting distance
• US person within the meaning of ITAR
• ITAR defines a US person as a US Citizen, US Permanent resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee
• AS in technical field preferred
