Tool Room Attendant Mechanical (Skilled Inventory Experience)

About the role

Tool Crib Attendants manage and distribute tools, equipment, and supplies throughout various locations in the shipyard. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfort with frequent audits and surveillance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Issue tools and equipment to workers and ensure proper check-in/check-out procedures.
• Maintain inventory records and track tool usage.
• Inspect tools for damage and communicate needed repairs or replacements.
• Organize and store tools efficiently for clean and easy access.
• Assist with ordering and restocking of supplies as needed by management.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED OR 2+ years of related technical experience.
• 5+ years of inventory experience.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and sustain a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Must be able to move heavy pallets of crib stock with a pallet jack.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed.
• Must be able to work until the end of normal scheduled hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior shipyard experience.
• Prior Tool Crib experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Military experience.

Physical Qualifications

• Exposure to acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, inside, noise, oily, outside, and wet conditions.
