About the Role
Receive, store, issue, and inventory supplies, hand tools, weld wire, materials, and equipment. Maintain minimum stock quantities and ensure the Tool Room operates efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Issue supplies, tools, and equipment to workers and maintain records of items issued and returned.
- Check weld wire in/out and monitor logs for accuracy and completeness.
- Receive, unpack, and store incoming supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Verify quantities listed on packing slips against actual items received.
- Place restocking orders weekly to maintain minimum inventory levels.
- Monitor trends in part usage and collaborate with Purchasing to optimize re-order points for ready-made items like cover clips.
- Keep the Tool Room secure and storage cabinets locked.
- Prepare periodic or perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
- Mark and identify tools and equipment.
- Maintain the Tool Room in a clean and orderly manner.
- Create product tags in accordance with job specifications.
- Inspect tools and equipment for defects or wear; report damage to the manager.
- Identify and report slow-moving or obsolete supplies and tools; arrange for removal with approval.
- Operate a forklift truck as needed.
- Enter orders into M2M (Manufacturing Management System).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Metrics
- Accuracy of weld wire logs and inventory records.
- Prevention of stock-outs.
- Tool Room organization and cleanliness.
- Accuracy and readiness of product tags.
- Cost efficiency in purchasing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Proficient computer and software skills, including working knowledge of M2M.
- Ability to lift and move cartons weighing up to 30 pounds repetitively.
- Capability to stand for extended periods.
- Visual acuity to read packing slips, labels, and maintain inventory records.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, management, and sales personnel.
- Basic skills in MS Access, Excel, and keyboarding.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations using a calculator and understanding of the American standard decimal and fraction system.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask while adjusting to changing priorities.
