Tool Maker

Full-time, hourly non-exempt position located at 23400 Haggerty Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48335.

Schedule

Initial training on 1st shift, with transition to 2nd or 3rd shift upon completion.

Pay

Starting salary range: $24.00+ per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

• $1.00/hr premium for holding a Journeyman card.
• $1.00/hr shift differential for 2nd shift.
• $1.25/hr shift differential for 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, and assemble parts to make or repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, dies, or machinists’ hand tools.
• Set up and operate all tool room equipment.
• Study blueprints to determine machining requirements, plan layout and assembly, or copy existing parts.
• Produce new tools, parts, and components for machines and equipment.
• Repair or rework tools, dies, machine parts, and perform similar tasks.
• Conduct inspections of parts, tools, and equipment as required.
• Perform bench work related to assigned jobs.
• Supply and maintain personal tools normally used in a journeyman’s trade.
• Responsible for lubrication, maintenance, and care of tool room equipment.
• Assist General Maintenance or Machine Repair/Rebuild personnel in measuring, fitting, installation, or replacement of parts where specialized skills are required.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and machines.
• Report unusual difficulties or conditions regarding machines, tools, and equipment to supervision.
• Complete job or daily job cards as required.
• Assist in training new hires or apprentices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman’s Card; or eight years of related experience, technical degree, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience to acquire a Journeyman’s card.
