About the Role

Engineers in this role focus on determining optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products. This includes applying productivity improvement methodologies such as LEAN processes, ergonomics, time studies, line balancing, 6S, and Kaizens to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build tooling to meet fabrication needs.
  • Maintain digital/electronic data and program/operate CNC equipment.
  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimensions, configurations, tool selection, and machine speeds/feed rates.
  • Evaluate tool designs and coordinate with engineering for necessary changes.
  • Design machine holding fixtures for parts and compute dimensions, radii, and curvatures.
  • Prepare geometric layouts using MasterCAM to show reference points and cutting paths.
  • Write instruction sheets, check sheets, and cutter lists to guide setup and operation.
  • Write programs for multi-axis CNC milling machines/routers.
  • Resolve CNC program and manufacturing issues with relevant departments.
  • Support manufacturing and other departments as an internal customer.
  • Perform cost analysis and tradeoff improvement studies.
  • Create operation sheets, tool drawings, and detail drawings.
  • Responsible for proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in the work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering or related experience in job function/training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to three years’ experience in a CNC machine shop environment.
  • Strong CAD/CAM skills and knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices.
  • Technical writing skills preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Two years’ experience with MasterCAM and SolidWorks.

  • Experience in the design, development, and application of tools and production methods related to CNC machining.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to support customer demands.

Pay

Base compensation: USD 85,000.00 - 95,000.00 (paid salaried).
