- Design tool layouts and assemblies within tool kits, toolboxes, and related storage systems, ensuring efficient organization and accessibility.
- Develop drawings that accurately represent tool placement, fit, and functionality within custom tool control systems.
- Update existing drawings with design changes and improve models to meet company standards for efficient manufacturing.
- Revise and maintain project drawings to ensure consistency and accuracy for the manufacturing and assembly floor.
- Follow Company drawing revision guidelines to ensure all drawings remain current and accurate.
Education
- Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, Certificate from technical trade school in CAD, drafting, mechanical design, or a related field- or equivalent experience and training.
Required Qualifications
- Strong 2D and 3D CAD/Design skills to create very detailed designs that are both functional but esthetically pleasing.
- Experience creating detailed layout and design drawings from sketches, concepts, and specifications.
- Understands design for manufacturing (DFM) using the most efficient and least labor intensive method to produce kits.
- Familiar with laser cutting, waterjet cutting, CMC machining, and additive manufacturing (3D printing).
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of tool functionality and grouping strategies, with hands-on experience crafting complete, customer-ready solutions from diverse tool sets and components.
- Skilled in designing efficient tool control layouts, custom kits, and storage systems, including those incorporating foam-based materials, to ensure precision, organization, and usability.
- Knowledgeable in standard drafting practices, engineering documentation, and design procedures.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, or comparable CAD software (mandatory); candidates with substantial industry experience using other CAD platforms will also be considered.
- Skilled in PC use and Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel proficiency for analyzing and manipulating data accurately.
Desired Abilities
- Excellent spatial visualization ability to effectively envision how individual components come together in a unified design.
- Adequate attention to detail and the ability to focus on complex design work for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills — interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
- Strong team-oriented work ethic and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and organize multiple tasks effectively.
