About the role

Responsible for the repairing and return of Company hand tools such as grinders, drills, chipping guns, needle guns, and similar equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains records of withdrawals, returns, breakage, reconditioning, and other pertinent information such as logs, reports, and repair records.
  • Checks tools for breakage and repair/recondition as necessary.
  • Traces misplaced or misdirected tools.
  • Keeps an inventory of parts on hand and orders other parts as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 12 months of training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, such as reports and repair orders to document completed tasks and future upgrades on equipment.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

The work environment involves regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must occasionally push and/or pull a maximum force of 200 ft-lb.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Close mental and visual application required to interpret drawings, layout, plan work, and weld.
  • Good judgment in determining best method and procedure to be followed.
  • Able to work on jobs while applying safety rules at all times.
