Tool and Die Maker

Plan, layout, and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair intricately designed tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machine attachments, and mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Layout work and plan machining and bench procedures.
• Perform machining operations requiring setups of tooling and machines to accurately execute various machining tasks.
• Perform bench and assembly operations to fit, align, adjust, assemble, and finish work.
• Create standard work processes/procedures and establish inspection methods to ensure process conformance.
• Perform precision machining using CNC and manual equipment.
• Produce quality products by reading process sheets, routings, and part drawings, inspecting work using designated inspection equipment, and performing mathematical calculations.
• Perform material handling duties required to load/unload jobs in machine tools.
• Demonstrate a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of tooling practices and applications; set up, adjust, and operate machine shop equipment.
• Perform difficult/technical calculations with decimals and fractions, use and interpret a wide variety of precision measuring instruments, and work from complicated drawings and specifications.
• Ensure quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Organize workflow and set priorities in accordance with established procedures and daily instructions.

Requirements

• Previous tool & die experience.
• Demonstrated experience making visual, dimensional, electrical, or mechanical tests of materials, processes, assemblies, or sub-assemblies.
• Demonstrated experience using a variety of precision measuring instruments and test equipment.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of tool manufacturing processes, tool setting processes, and ability to use a variety of technical instruments and devices.
• Ability to read drawings and prints.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively support others in performing their duties and responsibilities.
