Tool and Die Maker

Nature of Duties

• Makes intelligent decisions for any mold repair problems that arise when supervisory people are not available.
• Holds the ability to work with extreme accuracy on any type of tool work.
• Sets up and operates all machine tools and equipment, uses various hand tools and precision measuring instruments common to the trade.
• Heats treats small tool and die parts, makes special cutters and mills, dresses grinding wheels as needed.
• Welds with TIG equipment, repairs and replaces parts in hydraulic equipment.
• Installs/maintains electrical items (heaters and sensors) on plastic injection mold tooling.
• Makes ejector pins, core pins, makes gate changes, K.O. bars, cleans and polishes mold cavities.
• Requires basic computer skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Prefers a 2-year degree in Machine Tool with 2-4 years of tooling experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in Tool & Die building or repairs is a plus.
