About the role

Certified Languages International (CLI) provides over‑the‑phone interpretation services for medical, insurance, financial, utility, customer‑service and state‑court clients. Interpreters work as freelance independent contractors from home, handling a high volume of calls, most of which are medical in nature.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate over‑the‑phone interpretation for Limited English Proficient speakers.
• Log on and off via CLI’s online portal or a landline telephone to accept calls.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while interpreting.

Requirements

• Legal authorization to work in the United States (SSN or EIN and a photo ID).
• Reside in the United States (interpreters from California, New Jersey, or New York are not currently being recruited).
• Possess a reliable telephone or internet connection for the CLI portal.

Qualifications

Prior interpreting experience is preferred; certification is not required but advantageous.

Skills

• Fluency in English and at least one target language (including rare dialects).
• Strong listening, memory, and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage own schedule.

Pay

Interpreters are paid on a per‑minute basis for every minute spent on the phone interpreting.
