Tomah Area School District is seeking an innovative educator who can work collaboratively with colleagues, develop positive relationships with students and parents, and build partnerships with the community. This is a full-time position starting with the 2026-27 school year.
About the role
The Multilingual Learner (ML) Teacher provides English language development instruction to students who are acquiring English as an additional language and works collaboratively with other instructional employees to meet the individual needs of each student. Travel between schools is required. Co-curricular coaching and advisor positions are available.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates the language needs of students
- Administers required language proficiency and academic achievement tests
- Utilizes language teaching strategies to increase English proficiency for students
- Serves as a resource to classroom teachers to help ML students achieve
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Administration
Requirements
- Strong background in WiMLSS, Professional Learning Communities, and Universal Design for Learning or Differentiated Instruction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with a positive attitude
- WI DPI Certification #1395 (English as a Second Language) or WI DPI Certification #1023 (K-12 ESL/Bilingual), or eligibility to possess one of these certifications
- Applicants holding a valid DPI teaching certification in any area and interested in pursuing an emergency license for this position are encouraged to apply
Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
