Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
- Maintains a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Safeguards children’s safety and well-being.
- Communicates effectively with parents regarding children's progress and behavior.
- Encourages good behavior through positive discipline techniques.
- Affirms children's development and growth.
- Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.
Education Requirement
High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.
Certifications:
- Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred.
- 24 annual hours of Ohio-Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate's Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required.
Skills
- Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
- Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
- Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
Experience
Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred.

Additional Physical Requirements
- Able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
- Able to sit (on floor) in close proximity to children during play and activity periods.
- Able to lift a child into a crib and place them in it safely.
- Able to actively supervise children during gross motor play.
- Able to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations: example: a child falling off the climber.
- Able to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso, not by their arms.
