About the role
The Ohio Department of Health is seeking a Health Planning Administrator 1 to lead and support statewide tobacco cessation and prevention initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise staff implementing tobacco cessation activities and Tobacco 21 compliance checks.
- Manage local tobacco prevention and cessation subgrants, including RFPs, proposal review, budgets, deliverables, and reporting.
- Develop and implement grant goals, policies, guidance, and program resources.
- Serve as liaison between leadership and program staff; represent the program at meetings and conferences.
- Ensure program and grant compliance with CDC and federal funding requirements.
- Provide consultation, training, and technical assistance to staff, grantees, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Congduct monitoring, evaluation, needs assessments, onsite/virtual reviews, and prepare required reports.
- Oversee fiscal controls, approve expenditures, and monitor contract processes.
- Develop standards, criteria, and guidelines for tobacco cessation services and protocols.
- Contribute to strategic planning and statewide initiatives related to tobacco control.
- Deliver presentations to internal teams, partners, providers, and stakeholders.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints; collaborate with other departmental staff.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in health program delivery (e.g., program implementation, program coordination, program monitoring & evaluation, budget development, grant writing/review, providing technical assistance) with experience to be commensurate with approved position description on file.
- Completion of graduate core program in field of public health, health administration, preventive medicine, social work, nursing or other health-related field, or public policy & management/public administration or business administration with education to be commensurate with approved position description on file.
- Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
