Title I Teaching Assistant - Elementary

Essential Functions

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.
• Affords support to students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. read stories, listen to students read, providing writing assistance, reinforce English lessons, provide spelling practice, facilitate activities, computer learning programs, etc.).
• Communicates with teachers and/or parents.
• Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans.
• Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings.
• Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students.
• Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel.

Requirements

• Age 16+
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have Associates degree or 60 quarter/48 semester hours or have passed the para pro praxis test.
