Title I - Specialized Programs Teacher Assistant III (School-Wide) - Conners ES.

9-month position, 7 hours per day. Program: Autism-Primary. Primary work location: Eileen Conners Elementary School, Las Vegas.

About the Role

This position provides instructional and behavioral support to students with autism in a primary educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with autism.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction under the direction of the teacher.
• Support students with communication, social interaction, and behavioral needs.
• Assist with daily living skills, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility as needed.
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt classroom activities to meet student needs.
• Assist with data collection and reporting as required by the IEP.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support student success.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
• Follow school policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 48 college credits OR passing score on the ParaPro Assessment OR two years of full-time equivalent experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Ability to work effectively with students with autism and other disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
• Must be able to lift and move students or equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds).
• Must pass a criminal background check and provide proof of negative tuberculosis (TB) test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field.
• Experience working with students with autism or other developmental disabilities.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
• Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) or equivalent training.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
