Essential Functions
- Aid in instruction and activities as assigned by the teacher.
- Assist with work activities.
- Create and adapt instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
- Support students with their assignments.
- Implement instructional strategies that respect individual differences, foster student achievement, and maintain supportive and inclusive environments.
- Enhance the effectiveness of the learning environment through support tasks.
- Show commitment to professional growth to adapt to changes in the position.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Supervision
- Serve as a supervisor for students in the cafeteria or during recess as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator.
Qualifications
- Substitute teaching certificate is required.
- Minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours or completion of the paraprofessional exam.
- Works well with children.
- Ability to follow the instruction of the teacher(s) to whom the assistant is assigned.
- Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education.
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written skills, time management, and telephone skills.
- Knowledge of computer systems and assistive technology.
