9-month position, 6 hours per day. Program: Resource Room for grades K-2. Primary work location: Deskin, Ruthe Elementary School.

About the role

This para-professional position supports students in the Resource Room program, assisting with instructional and behavioral needs under the direction of certified staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the special education teacher in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction to students with disabilities.
  • Support students with behavioral interventions and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Help students with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility).
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Assist with classroom management and organization.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support student success.
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times.
  • Operate and assist students with adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
  • Perform clerical duties such as preparing materials, maintaining records, and organizing instructional spaces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet one of the following qualifications:
    • Completion of at least 60 semester hours of college credit, or
    • Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or equivalent local assessment, or
    • Associate degree or higher.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and provide required documentation (e.g., transcripts, certifications).
