About the Role
The Titanium Weld Mapper identifies, documents, tracks, and verifies titanium weld locations and sequences on aerospace components and assemblies. This role supports production, quality assurance, and engineering teams by ensuring weld mapping complies with customer specifications, engineering drawings, aerospace quality standards, and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate traceability records.
Responsibilities
- Review engineering drawings, weld maps, specifications, and work instructions for titanium aerospace components.
- Identify and document weld locations, weld numbers, and weld sequences on manufactured parts and assemblies.
- Create, maintain, and update weld maps to ensure full traceability of welded joints.
- Verify that weld identification corresponds accurately to manufacturing travelers, shop orders, and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate with welders, inspectors, quality personnel, and manufacturing engineers to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures.
- Support first article inspections (FAI) and production validation activities.
- Assist in maintaining weld records and documentation required for NADCAP, AS9100, and customer audits.
- Verify weld repairs, rework activities, and associated documentation.
- Review nonconformance reports (NCRs) related to welding activities and ensure proper record updates.
- Maintain accurate electronic and manual records within manufacturing execution systems (MES) or quality management systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on weld traceability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality requirements within aerospace manufacturing facilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, welding documentation, quality inspection, or aerospace production environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of titanium welding processes and aerospace manufacturing practices.
- Experience with document control, traceability requirements, and quality systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing documentation systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with GTAW/TIG titanium welding processes.
- Knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, AWS, and aerospace welding requirements.
- Experience with SAP, MES, ERP, or other manufacturing tracking systems.
- Certification or training in welding inspection, quality assurance, or NDT practices.
