About the role
Tire Techs are responsible for managing and maintaining heavy-duty tires, utilizing tire machines, and ensuring all equipment is in optimal condition. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in tire handling and repair, along with the ability to work independently in a variety of outdoor conditions.
Responsibilities
- Inspects tires on transit vehicles and repairs as needed.
- Proper use of equipment to remove, replace, balance, re-groove and repair them in a safe, effective manner.
- Maintains inventory of stock.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of heavy-duty tire repair experience
- Through knowledge of tire maintenance and repairs required
- Experience in the use of tire machines regroove, balance, and all related tire equipment
- A valid class B Arizona driver's license with passenger endorsement and excellent motor vehicle record
- Must maintain and have a current DOT certification
- Proven ability to work independently with little or no supervisor required
Physical Requirements
- Requires transferring of up to 36 pounds for a distance of 20 feet and push-pull of up to 22 pounds.
- Requires climbing stairs and walking up 2640 feet per hour.
- Must tolerate heights up to 41 inches.
- Requires a tolerance for sitting and standing.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions, which can be extremely hot in the summer months and cold during the winter months.
- The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud.
- Vibrations and fumes or airborne particles may also be present.
