Timberwolves Basketball Communications Game Day Assistant

About the role

In this seasonal part-time role, you’ll support Timberwolves home games by preparing media materials, setting up and breaking down the media section, transcribing post-game quotes, and distributing content. The position requires attendance at home games, including some weekends, with interviews and hiring in mid-August and offers around mid-September. Training begins September 28th.

Responsibilities

• Provide media and teams with statistical and press content.
• Participate in game-day in-arena media setup and takedown.
• Assist with game-night media hospitality.
• Support post-game events during Timberwolves home games.
• Transcribe home and visiting player/coach quotes and distribute to media.
• Facilitate daily clips distribution.

Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism in high-pressure, high-profile situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Occasional lifting of boxes/equipment up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to navigate bleachers, steps, and arena environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• One (1) year of experience in Sports Public Relations, Journalism, or sports information preferred.

Pay

$17.00 per hour.

Work Environment

• Primarily office-based with standard equipment, but also operates in gymnasiums, practice facilities, and professional sports arenas.
• Sedentary work with occasional movement, including ascending/descending bleachers and traversing the arena.
• May require travel to external events as needed.
