About the role
The Network Operations Center (NOC) is a central location where IT Support staff monitor and manage client networks and systems. This role involves hands-on technical responsibilities and includes supervisory duties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage systems to high standards of performance and availability according to standard operating procedures
- Perform intermediate operational/administrative tasks
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement
- Develop strong subject matter expertise in key systems, technologies, or processes
- Create and maintain runbooks and operating procedures for Tier 1 staff
- Coach and mentor more junior staff, serving as an escalation point for complex issues
Requirements
- Relevant intermediate technical certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, JNCIS, MCSE, etc. (or equivalent experience)
- At least 2-3 years’ practical experience providing support and management of critical infrastructure and systems
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Ownership of problems and a drive to grow technical understanding and certifications
- Scripting experience (Powershell, Bash)
- Solid experience with switching and routing, systems and storage management, databases, firewalls, and optical networking
Qualifications
- Leadership by example and a commitment to improving technical understanding and certifications
Skills
- Intermediate technical certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, JNCIS, MCSE, etc.)
- Practical experience managing critical infrastructure and systems
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Strong scripting skills (Powershell, Bash)
