About the role

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is recruiting an anticipated THS Special Education Instructor to join our team at Norwich Technical High School in Norwich, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the education of students with and without disabilities
  • Employ a variety of teaching practices reflecting high learning expectations and current pedagogy
  • Collaborate with content area teachers to ensure equity to all students
  • Foster a gradual release of responsibility and encourage student discourse
  • Support self-advocacy and design transition needs
  • Engage in parent and community outreach, consultation, and collaboration
  • Create a student-centered classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Administer a variety of assessment batteries and participate in professional learning

Requirements

  • Active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas: 065 Comprehensive Special Education, PK–12 or 165 Comprehensive Special Education, PreK–12 or 265 Comprehensive Special Education, 1–12 OR be Eligible for a State of Connecticut teaching certificate in subject area (includes ARC candidates)

Qualifications

  • 4 years experience in a high school setting (9-12 education)
  • Trade career referral experience
  • Professional experience related to special education
  • Experience with varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning
  • Experience with fostering and facilitating learning, classroom management, and behavior intervention plans
  • Experience delivering ideas and objectives through oral and written communication
  • Experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google Products

Skills

  • Knowledgeable in administering a variety of assessment batteries
  • Ability to foster and facilitate learning
  • Experience with varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning
  • Experience with fostering and facilitating learning, classroom management, and behavior intervention plans
  • Experience delivering ideas and objectives through oral and written communication
  • Experience utilizing computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google Products

Pay

Versatile pay scale based on the State Vocational Federation of Teachers contract.

Schedule

First shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.
