About the role

The State of Connecticut Technical High School System (CTECS) is hiring for a Health Technology Instructor (THS Instructor - Professional) to join our professional education team at Eli Whitney Technical High School.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Health Technology theory.
  • Oversee student rotations at healthcare facilities.
  • Maintain a professional, safe, and disciplined environment.
  • Grade clinical competencies and academic health coursework.
  • Certify student proficiency in trade related skills.
  • Align classroom instruction with industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bring at least 8 years of experience in a related field (6 years with an associates degree or higher).
  • A License or a temporary permit as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut or hold a Multistate or Compact Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtain a CT 109 Health Occupations - Vocational Technical Schools endorsement.
  • Obtain BLS instructor certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Obtain an American Red Cross CPR instructor certification.
  • Obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements required to drive the student transport vehicle.
  • Complete 3 CCSU courses: VTE 113, VTE 116, and Special Education.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a long-term care or rehabilitation facility.
  • Teaching, preparing lesson plans, differentiated learning, and assessing student.
  • Completed the following courses at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU): VTE 113, VTE 116, and Sp.

Skills

  • Strong instructional abilities.
  • Practical healthcare expertise.
  • Physical ability to perform and demonstrate a variety of healthcare tasks.

Pay

VS02 starting salary, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers.

Schedule

First shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.
