Thrift Store Clerk (Part- Time)

The Salvation Army, an international evangelical movement of the universal Christian church, seeks individuals to help maintain its thrift store in line with its mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs without discrimination.

Pay

$13.50 per hour

Schedule

Part‑time, 25 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Ensure all shelves and clothing racks are full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist the management team in investigating and properly pricing items for sale, as needed.
• Process all merchandise efficiently and according to established standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise daily to promote sales.
• Learn and train on the entire processing system, including cash register operation.
• Maintain a clean environment throughout the store, including shelves, counters, and tables.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers when needed.
• Provide courteous, prompt, and polite customer service consistent with the mission of The Salvation Army.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Retail and/or cash register experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills with access to payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web‑based system.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English preferred.
• Attention to detail and creative problem‑solving skills.
• Strong independent judgment.
• Must pass all applicable background checks.
• Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.
• Physical requirements:
  • Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability; excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment.
  • May need to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasional ability to lift or move more than 50 pounds.
