Thrift Store Associate

Position Summary

The Sales and Production Associate supports daily operations in the sales floor and production areas of the thrift store, contributing to a welcoming, respectful environment that reflects and supports the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, professional, and responsive customer service at all times
• Support daily store operations, including opening and closing tasks
• Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual standards
• Receive donations and handle all items respectfully
• Sort, price, hang, tag, and stock merchandise according to established procedures
• Maintain proper organization of merchandise by category, colorization, and established pricing
• Perform cashier duties, including operating the point-of-sale system and processing transactions
• Follow all cash handling policies and procedures
• Restock merchandise and assist customers as needed throughout the shift
• Adhere to the Thrift Store Employee Handbook and all established policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A combination of education and at least one year of relevant work experience preferred
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Experience using a cash register or point-of-sale system and handling cash
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
• Basic math skills and ability to manage transactions
• Dependable, punctual, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
