Job Summary

Our associates at Red, White, and Blue Thrift perform a range of tasks and processes essential to our retail operations. These positions require attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The roles are full-time, and medical benefits become available after 90 days of employment.

About the Role

The Facilities Associate position is labor intensive and may be assigned tasks such as unloading and loading trailers, operating a trash compactor, operating a baling machine, and janitorial duties. The Production Associate role involves pre-sorting donations, sorting, pricing, hanging, tagging, attaching sensors, and distributing merchandise to the floor. The Sales Floor Associate role includes cashiering, sales floor duties, and donation center attendant responsibilities. Other available positions include box truck driver, dispatcher, and supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, back of house, or customer facing experience preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely perform job functions
  • Physical strength to lift and carry up to 40-70 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs., and apply negligible force when handling objects
  • Endurance to stand for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm
  • Fine motor skills for tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands
  • Balance and agility for maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces, as well as maintaining balance when performing agile tasks
  • Visual acuity for clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more

Work Environment

  • Dynamic and characterized by a consistently busy atmosphere
  • Noisy due to the bustling activity on the sales floor and the production area
  • Bright lighting throughout the front and back of store

Interactions with Others

  • Regular interactions with customers, donors, and coworkers
  • Foster a collaborative and customer-focused environment

Flexibility

  • Nature of this role requires a high degree of flexibility
  • Employees may be asked to switch tasks or departments based on operational needs
  • Employees are expected to work in all areas as assigned, contributing to a well-rounded and collaborative team environment

Language Requirements

  • Not required to communicate exclusively in English within the workplace
  • May be necessary for interactions with customers, donors, colleagues, and supervisors who primarily use English
  • Requires a fundamental understanding of written and spoken English for comprehending instructions, as well as the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
