Supports the mission of the NWCS Thrift Store by sorting, pricing, and preparing donated goods for sale while creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers. Ensures merchandise is processed efficiently, meets quality standards, and is stocked on the sales floor in a timely and organized manner.
Responsibilities
- Sort donated goods following established quality and category guidelines.
- Inspect items for cleanliness, functionality, and resale suitability; identify items for recycling or disposal when necessary.
- Prepare merchandise for pricing by cleaning, testing, hanging, folding, or packaging items.
- Price items according to store pricing guides and directives from supervisors.
- Organize processed merchandise and transport items to the sales floor efficiently and safely.
- Restock departments as needed to maintain a full, attractive sales floor.
- Maintain clean, organized workstations, back-stock, and storage areas.
- Follow all opening and closing tasks assigned to the production area (when scheduled for shifts that require it).
- Assist in rotating merchandise and maintaining proper product flow from receiving to production to sales floor.
- Support team members with shared tasks and step into other production-related duties as directed.
- Participate in trainings, team meetings, and ongoing process improvement efforts.
- Interact with customers, volunteers, and team members with a friendly, Christ-like attitude.
- Follow safety procedures for lifting, sorting, and handling donations.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or maintenance issues immediately to a supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment in production and storage areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in a retail or donation environment.
- Ability to delegate and organize.
- Must be willing to affirm and abide by the Schools’ Statement of Faith.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve when issues arise.
- Knowledge of antiques/vintage is a plus.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb a ladder and stack boxes on shelves.
- Must be able to stand/walk for entire shift.
- Team player with a spirit of cooperation and willingness to work with others towards goals as set by Production Supervisor and General Manager.
Pay
$17.13/hour
Schedule
Part time, 20-25 hours/week with Saturday availability required.
