What You’ll Do
- Setup and operate a variety of machinery to blueprint specifications.
- Produce parts to the highest-level finishes and tolerances.
- Use various measuring tools and instruments for precision measuring.
- Read part drawings with sectional views.
- Move controls to set specified speeds, feed rates, and spacing between wheel faces.
- Lifts and positions work piece manually or with a hoist and secures it between wheels and on work rest.
- Work independently; assist less experienced machinist.
- Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
- Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.
- Interact professionally when interacting with customers and employees.
- Produce and maintain a consistent quality of work.
- Recommend improvements for area product and processes.
- Set the department standards in areas of housekeeping, attendance and teamwork by example.
- Practice good communication with employees at all levels.
Basic Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Maintain math skills - basic math skills required, advanced preferred; general computer skills; knowledge and understanding of various measuring devices.
- Equipment knowledge - load, unload, move, stack and stage product and materials using forklift; use of overhead crane; maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

- Seeing – visually monitor machine to ensure proper mechanics are maintained and identify problems; specifically paying attention to detail.
