Accountabilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive thought leader engagement strategy aligned with commercial objectives across the assigned Midwest territory.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with leading clinicians, specialists, and advocates within the rare neuromuscular disease community through compliant and value-driven interactions.
- Identify, profile, and prioritize national and regional key opinion leaders based on scientific expertise, clinical influence, and strategic importance.
- Gather, analyze, and communicate field insights to support brand strategy, product launches, lifecycle planning, competitive intelligence, and evolving market dynamics.
- Lead commercial engagement activities surrounding medical congresses, advisory boards, speaker programs, and peer-to-peer educational initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Training, Legal, and Compliance to ensure coordinated execution.
- Support the development of educational materials, thought leader content, and other commercial initiatives while managing external vendors when required.
- Measure the effectiveness of engagement activities through defined performance metrics while ensuring all interactions comply with regulatory and ethical standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; an advanced scientific or business degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven experience engaging key opinion leaders, preferably within rare disease, neuromuscular disorders, or other specialty therapeutic areas.
- Strong understanding of rare disease commercialization, including diagnosis pathways, referral networks, patient advocacy, and treatment landscapes.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific and clinical information into clear, actionable commercial strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, relationship management, and influencing skills with executive-level presence.
- Experience working effectively within highly matrixed, cross-functional organizations.
- Strong project management, strategic thinking, and analytical capabilities with a results-oriented mindset.
- Commitment to ethical business practices and compliance with industry regulations.
- Ability to manage a large geographic territory with up to 80% domestic travel.
- Must reside within the assigned Midwest territory and within reasonable driving distance of a major commercial airport.
