About the role

The Canning Thoracic Institute of Northwestern Medicine and the Division of Thoracic Surgery of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Providing procurement services for lung transplantation
  • Assisting in the implantation of lungs
  • Performing ECMO transport services
  • Assisting in ex vivo lung perfusion
  • Providing a wide range of Thoracic Surgery services in Northwestern Medicine’s Central region, including shared service call, rounding, and caring for pre-op and post-op patients in concert with the clinical team
  • Responding to local consultation requests and referrals

Requirements

  • A strong clinical background experience
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Thoracic Surgery fellowship/residency program or equivalent
  • Board-eligibility or board certification in Thoracic Surgery
  • Eligibility for obtaining permanent medical licensure in the state of Illinois

Qualifications

  • Strong academic and research potential
  • Ability to participate in academic programs of the Feinberg School of Medicine, including educational and research programs
