About the role
Responsible for safely operating machinery, maintaining quality standards, and following procedures to ensure efficient production. This role includes training to develop skills for independent operation while adhering to safety and productivity goals.
Responsibilities
- Monitor product being produced to ensure quality.
- Measure and inspect parts according to the In-Process Inspection Sheet.
- Sort nonconforming product as directed or required.
- Perform coil changes as necessary.
- Maintain appropriate coolant and machine oil levels.
- Keep work area clean, safe, and organized.
- Correctly and neatly complete any SPC.
- Submit SPC samples to the Quality Lab as required.
- Frequently empty scrap containers to avoid blockage.
- Maintain material movement as needed.
- Complete production WIP travelers with the correct information and place with parts produced.
- Complete scrap reports including the determination of approximate piece count and weight.
- Perform other duties as assigned or delegated.
- Train while operating no more than 1 press, and operate the standard 3 presses when not engaged in training duties.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Able to lift approximately 40-60 pounds on a periodic basis.
- Demonstrates proficiency in hold tags & containment procedures.
- Demonstrates proficiency in washer checks & labels (finishing logs).
- Demonstrates proficiency of gauging and inspection procedures.
- Demonstrates basic proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints and instructions.
- Willingness to complete the Operator Certification Test and Statistical Process Control training.
- Willingness to learn and become qualified to operate a Hilo and pendant crane.
