About the role

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Third Party Energy Inspector to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunities for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Home Energy Rating System (HERS) ratings for new residential construction in accordance with RESNET standards.
  • Conduct blower door testing to verify building envelope air leakage and energy code compliance.
  • Perform duct leakage testing and other required residential energy performance testing.
  • Complete residential energy inspections throughout various stages of construction.
  • Conduct third-party inspections for new residential construction in accordance with applicable building codes, approved plans, and client requirements.
  • Review construction plans and energy documentation to verify compliance with state and local energy codes.
  • Document inspection findings, testing results, deficiencies, and corrective actions using electronic reporting systems.
  • Prepare and submit accurate inspection reports and required compliance documentation.
  • Communicate inspection findings and testing results with builders, contractors, homeowners, and municipal staff in a professional manner.
  • Cook up inspection schedules to meet project timelines and customer expectations.
  • Maintain testing equipment, calibration records, and required certifications.
  • Stay current on changes to building codes, energy codes, RESNET standards, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current RESNET Certified HERS Rater certification required.
  • Blower Door and Duct Leakage Testing certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing residential energy ratings, testing, inspections, or related residential construction experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally between project sites.

Skills

  • Knowledge of residential construction practices, building systems, and energy-efficient construction methods.
  • Working knowledge of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), Florida Energy Conservation Code, and applicable residential building codes.
  • Understanding of building science principles including air sealing, insulation, ventilation, moisture management, and thermal performance.
  • Ability to perform blower door and duct leakage testing using specialized equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify code deficiencies and construction issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple inspection schedules.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with tablets, mobile inspection software, Microsoft Office, and electronic reporting systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, homeowners, municipal staff, and coworkers.
