About the role

The role involves working at Altorfer Inc., a Caterpillar dealer, during the Think Big Program (Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program) at Illinois Central College (ICC).

Responsibilities

• Attend ICC for 8 weeks of coursework.
• Complete an 8-week internship at Altorfer Inc.
• Rotate between ICC and Altorfer Inc. throughout the program.
• Take courses including Fundamentals of Hydraulics, Caterpillar Engine Fuel Systems, Fundamentals of Electrical Systems, Diagnostic Testing, and Undercarriage/Final Drives.

Requirements

• Self-starter with good time management, planning & organizational skills.
• Team-oriented with commitment to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Above-average GPA.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
• Physical demands include walking, climbing, bending, lifting up to 75-100 lbs., intermittent sitting, and wearing appropriate safety equipment.
• The work environment includes moderate to high noise levels and may require wearing safety glasses or side shields.
