Position Summary
Based in Hebron, KY the Thermal Spray Technician will perform essential job functions associate with thermal spray coating operations under the direction of the Production Supervisor to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Review job folder to verify area of part to be masked, cleaned and/or blasted and coated
- Confirm all pre-coating requirements have been completed according to job folder specification
- Record and sign off on all applicable data defined in the job folder
- Report all coating problems, inaccuracies in job folder, damaged parts and/or tooling and fixtures to Thermal Spray Lead
- Make appropriate use of coating materials, equipment and documentation
- Follow in-process inspection procedures as needed to verify current operation meets customer and technical plan requirements
- Completion of assigned spray operation in timely, accurate manner per work instructions
- Accurate documentation of required data within job folder
- Attention to detail with a focused goal of zero rework
- Maintaining high quality output
- Excellent record of attendance with flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Assisting supervisor in developing processes that will improve operations
- 100% on-time delivery of assigned projects
- Effective communication and collaboration with supervisor, plant leadership and coworkers
- Observe all Environmental, Health and Safety Policy requirements:
- Keeping work area neat and orderly at all times
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Wearing appropriate respiratory gear when in thermal spray booth
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and a technical certification or two year degree in a technical field
- Working experience in a production environment that demonstrates capability to learn thermal spray processes
- Ability to perform mechanical measurements (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
- Organized, detailed and accurate
- Good communication skills with co-workers and management
- Documentation skills with basic MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Plasma, thermal spray and/or HVOF spray experience
- Familiarity with large multi-axis robotics and associated programming tools
- Advanced documentation and computer skills
- Thermal spray process experience
Physical & Mental Demands
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone
