Thermal/Fluids Test Engineer III- Lunar Permanence

About the role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The goal is to build sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and execute Thermal and Fluid component tests, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing.
• Aid in developing test requirements, plans, and procedures to ensure acceptable hardware/system performance.
• Create and review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts.
• Procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
• Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during testing.
• Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews.
• Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.
• Reduce, analyze, and archive test data.
• Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal customers.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Have hands-on test experience or exposure to at least one of the following: inspection, performance, leakage, shock, vibe, static/dynamic loading, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, pressurized operations, EMC, or Life testing.
• Show excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Display excellent organizational skills including prioritization, scheduling, and providing succinct status reports.
• Show a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience/background with pressurized equipment, thermal systems, cryogenics, or vacuum systems.
• Experience reading P&ID schematics/layout designs.
• Experience/understands hazardous operations.
• Experience with inert fluid operations or test.
• Experience with sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.

Skills

Broad multi-disciplinary engineering (fluids, thermal, mechanical, and electrical/electronic) knowledge, skills, and methods.

Pay

Base Pay Range For WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
