Purpose

Cargo Workshop, Inc. is actively running multiple high-end residential projects at once, across design and construction phases. The work is strong—but coordination relies too heavily on individual follow-up, memory, and disconnected tools. Things don’t fall apart—but they require constant effort to keep aligned. This role exists to replace that effort with structure.

Role Description

This is not a typical Project Manager role. You are not here to track tasks. You are here because you see a better way and want to do something about. You’ve Sat In Meetings Thinking “Why do I have to keep following up on the same thing?” “Why is this spread across five different places?” “Why are we reinventing this every project?”“Why does everything feel reactive instead of planned?”“Are we doing this right, or just fast?”“Why am I finding this out now?” And you know exactly how this could be solved, but haven't had the authority to fix it. That instinct—that standard—is why this role exists.

Buckets of Responsibility

• Project Control & Momentum
  • Own the full lifecycle of active projects—ensuring timelines hold, dependencies are anticipated, and nothing stalls without immediate visibility and action.
• Decision Tracking & Accountability
  • Earnestly document, assign, and follow through on every open question, decision, and responsibility—nothing lives in conversations alone.
• Communication Infrastructure
  • Run a consistent communication cadence across all stakeholders (client, internal, site): agendas, recaps, weekly updates, and clear next steps—without gaps or repetition.
• Drawing & Information Control
  • Maintain clarity across all project documentation (drawings, revisions, shop drawings). Ensure teams are always working from the correct, current information.
• Procurement & Coordination
  • Track and manage procurement across projects—ensuring timelines, approvals, and deliveries align with construction schedules.
• System Development & Implementation
  • Build and implement repeatable workflows (primarily in Monday.com) that replace ad hoc processes and reduce reliance on memory.
• Operational Visibility
  • At any moment, leadership can see the status of a project—priorities, risks, and next steps—without needing to ask.

Requirements (Non-Negotiables)

• 7+ years in construction, architecture, or design-build environments
• Experience leading projects from pre-construction through completion, not just isolated phases
• Proven track record of building or significantly improving systems/workflows (not just operating within them)
• Demonstrated ability to bring order to disorganized or fast-moving environments
• Strong command of both design documentation and construction execution
• Clear, direct communicator—able to drive alignment across clients, consultants, and internal teams
• High ownership: you do not wait to be told what’s broken—you identify and fix it
• Comfortable stepping into environments where structure does not yet exist—and creating it
