About the role
The Therapy Technician I position is directly supervised by the manager and plays a crucial role in the therapy department at Tahoe Forest Hospital. Responsibilities include transporting, preparing, positioning, and assisting patients and therapists in completing the treatment plan. The role also involves performing office and clerical duties to support the smooth operation of the therapy department.
Responsibilities
- Effectively utilizes appropriate resources to ensure sensitive, personal care to individuals requiring therapy services.
- Transports patients to and from therapy areas.
- Prepares patients and necessary equipment for therapy treatment.
- Aids therapists in positioning patients, administering treatments, and supporting patients during ambulation, exercise, gait training, and other physical activities.
- Maintains the department in a clean and orderly condition.
- Assists with wound care and dressing, undressing, and donning treatment garments.
- Observes patients during treatments and reports any distress or malfunctioning equipment to the therapist.
- Changes linens on beds and treatment tables.
- Cleans equipment.
- Participates in peer feedback to improve performance.
- Seeks clarification of duties when needed.
- Channels suggestions, criticisms, and questions to appropriate personnel.
- Extends courtesy and consideration for others in interpersonal relationships.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and performs requisitions under the direction of the manager.
- Performs preventative maintenance checks as requested.
- Performs annual calibrations of equipment (pinch gauges, Jamars).
- Prepares pools for treatments, stocks and maintains pool linens, and assists pool therapists with patients as needed (Truckee only).
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- No educational requirement.
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers upon hire.
- Preferred: Associates degree in related field.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
