Therapy Program Manager Senior Living

About the Role

The Therapy Program Manager (TPM) - SL is responsible for managing and supervising the rehabilitation department to meet resident needs, the company’s fiscal requirements, and federal and state regulations. The TPM achieves specific resident care, team member relations, customer service, and financial objectives through strong leadership and effective non-clinical management of staff, customers, and referral sources. Maintains professional conduct and represents Reliant Rehabilitation’s commitment to quality and services in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational oversight of therapy, wellness, and fitness services within the community, in collaboration with the supervising Physical Therapist and Regional Director of Operations (RDO).
• Advocate passionately for services to drive meaningful and measurable outcomes for the community.
• Assign resident scheduling and other responsibilities to staff as needed; assist with scheduling and administrative tasks.
• Manage, orient, train, and counsel department team members from an administrative and performance standpoint. (Clinical supervision, performance evaluation, and resident care oversight are provided by a licensed Physical Therapist or appropriate discipline lead.)
• Ensure compliance with Reliant Rehabilitation and community-specific policies and procedures for the department.
• Ensure documentation compliance from a regulatory, timeliness, and completeness perspective. (Clinical accuracy and appropriateness are overseen by the supervising therapist of record.)
• Communicate and coordinate department functions with other services to promote team rapport and effectiveness.
• Communicate effectively with the community leadership team regarding department programs, goals, objectives, risks, and successes.
• Communicate effectively with the public (including medical personnel) regarding therapy services offered by Reliant Rehabilitation.
• Participate in utilization review, quality assurance, and care coordination in an administrative and collaborative capacity. (Final clinical determinations are made by licensed therapists authorized under California law.)
• Responsible for revenue and expense controls to meet budgetary requirements.
• Establish goals and objectives for the department and implement strategies to achieve success.
• Ensure timely and accurate billing processes and workflow. (Clinical justification and medical necessity determinations remain the responsibility of the evaluating licensed therapist.)
• Enhance clinical expertise, professional, and management skills through interaction with managers, therapists, self-study, and continuing education.
• Maintain valid state license (where appropriate).
• Maintain awareness of issues related to the rehabilitation and senior living profession.
• Understand relevant payment models related to billing, treatment guidelines, and clinically appropriate means/modes of delivery.
• Provide quality care as well as reasonable goals and outcomes within guidelines.
• Comply with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocols, including frequent lifting using appropriate biomechanical techniques.
• Capable of lifting fifty (30) pounds of dead weight alone.
• Conduct self in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner at all times.
• Adhere to the policies, principles, and guidance within the Employee Handbook and Code of Business Conduct.
• Work varying hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, and assignments as delegated.
• Comply with the position description for the discipline of current license.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Note: PTAs may not complete screens in the state of California.

Qualifications

• Must possess a degree in therapy from an accredited school; or two (2) years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• One (1) year of management experience is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of Medicare and third-party billing.
• Thorough knowledge of state practice acts.

Skills

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Basic internet navigation skills.

Certificates and Licenses

• Must hold a current and active license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• All duties are performed in compliance with the California Physical Therapy Practice Act. The PTA does not independently supervise Physical Therapists, establish plans of care, perform evaluations or screens, or make clinical judgements reserved for licensed Physical Therapists.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise the work of others in the community, including training, coaching, resolving issues, maintaining personal records, and assisting with discipline.
