About the Role

Stonington Institute, a division of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), has an immediate opening for a Licensed Clinician. Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas, offering medical detox, residential addictions treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment.

The Licensed Clinician functions as the clinical expert in assessment, planning, and delivery of clinical treatment services to clients in the Detox unit. This role involves providing individual, group, and family therapy, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and coordination with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group therapy, as well as psycho-educational groups.
• Conduct crisis intervention services, including risk assessments in accordance with Stonington Institute policy.
• Coordinate and contribute to diagnostic case reviews and treatment team meetings.
• Complete required documentation, including assessments, master treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans.
• Plan and implement individualized treatment programs based on clients’ bio-psycho-social history and needs.
• Determine optimal discharge plans in collaboration with intake, assessment, and aftercare teams.
• Maintain regular contact and contribute to decision-making with outside agencies (e.g., DMHAS, courts, community resources).
• Ensure the legal rights of clients are protected.
• Attend and contribute to in-service training sessions as requested.
• Provide communication and feedback to team members for joint treatment planning and patient management.
• Complete all documentation required by regulatory and accreditation agencies.
• Comply with professional and Institute ethical standards, maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
• Maintain professional expertise through continuing education.

Requirements

• Independent license required (LMFT, LCSW, LPC, LADC, or licensed psychologist).
• Two years of mental health counseling experience with a substance abuse population preferred.
