About the Role

Therapists in AltaPointe’s In-Home division provide effective clinical assessment, formulate appropriate treatment plans, and deliver individual, group, play, and family therapy. They work in the community, offering outreach services to consumers and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective clinical assessment of the consumer.
  • Utilizes assessment data to support a DSM IV-TR diagnosis.
  • Formulates appropriate treatment plans with the consumer and family/guardian, as indicated.
  • Provides individual, group, family, and play therapy using basic therapeutic models and theories based on consumer needs as stated in the treatment plan.
  • Provides outreach services to consumers and their families according to FIND standards.
  • Transports consumers to services on a limited basis.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize crisis elements and de-escalate or resolve situations.
  • Effectively collaborates with staff and outside sources in delivering clinical services.
  • Evaluates and assists with consumer discharge planning.
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics.
  • Effectively demonstrates adolescent and adult-specific competencies.
  • Provides crisis intervention and management (with 24-hour availability).
  • Completes treatment plan reviews as required.
  • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed.
  • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
  • Actively works to enhance clinical skills.
  • Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy, including:
    • Mental health assessments.
    • Measurable and specific goals in the treatment plan.
    • Types of consumer problems, treatment goals addressed, services, and techniques used.
    • Case disposition, case closings, follow-up, and referrals.
  • Effectively manages caseload based on consumer needs.
  • Meets AltaPointe productivity standards.
  • Treats consumers with care, dignity, and compassion.
  • Respects consumer’s privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assists consumers and visitors as needed.
  • Maintains professionalism and sensitivity to consumer needs, expectations, and individual differences.
  • Adopts a teamwork approach with coworkers.
  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities and AltaPointe committees as required.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs.
  • Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current license and requirements for renewals (e.g., CEUs) and attends regular workshops and in-service training.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a mental health discipline.
  • One (1) year of post-master’s experience in child and adolescent or family therapy.
  • Must obtain certification in in-home intervention and case management training by the Alabama State Department of Mental Health within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must maintain a valid, verifiable driver’s license and a clear driving record.

Qualifications

  • Experience with the Juvenile Justice system preferred.
