Therapist

About the role

Centerstone is seeking a therapist with experience treating individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This is an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team. No weekend or on-call work required.

Responsibilities

• Develop therapeutic rapport with clients – meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationship.
• Diagnostic assessment – formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment based on information presented, identify need for risk assessment (to include substance use assessments).
• Concurrent documentation – complete documentation within 24 hours.
• Provide assessment services, individual (and possibly family) therapy to those identified with substance use issues.
• Treatment planning – develop, write, implement, evaluate and revise overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual based on their identified strengths.
• Therapeutic interventions – use of empirically based modalities to engage and manage their mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.
• Progress notes completed within current agency guidelines.
• Respond to supervisory request for urgent care situations and coverage for vacant caseloads, including telephones and face-to-face intervention.
• Keep administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the program or the organization.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

A Master’s degree is required in one of the following fields: Clinical Psychology, Mental Health (MH) Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and/or a specialization in MH Counseling.

License-eligible in respective discipline preferred.

OR

Applicants with a Master’s degree in a related field (outside of the disciplines listed above) must meet the following criteria:

• Completion of at least 24 graduate-level semester hours in psychology, social work, counseling, or other behavioral health-related coursework.
• Relevant coursework and work experience in the following areas:
  • Clinical treatment and treatment planning
  • Appraisal and assessment of mental disorders
  • Psychopathology
  • Use of the DSM for diagnostic purposes within a clinical internship or practicum in a behavioral health setting

Experience Requirements

Clinical experience is required. This may be fulfilled through clinical practicums or internships completed as part of a master’s degree program.

• Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person and virtual methods.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Coordination, ability to organize, and plan are critical for this role.
• Responds to needs of consumers in a timely and professional manner.
• Demonstrates good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers.
