Therapeutic Recreation Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) - Chandler

About the role

The Therapeutic Recreation Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a critical role in our Therapeutic Recreation Program, supporting youth and young adults navigating at-risk behaviors in an after-school setting. BHTs provide mentorship, guidance, and care through trauma-informed approaches and cognitive behavior therapy, utilizing sports and activities as therapeutic tools. The role involves working closely with the clinical team to implement individualized treatment plans and ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure safety
• Facilitate groups, activities, and skill-building sessions
• Support treatment goals and behavior plans
• Aid in documentation and case coordination
• Provide crisis intervention when needed
• Support academics (CHOICE)
• Participate in recreation and movement-based activities (Therapeutic Rec)
• Collaborate with clinical and program teams

Requirements

• Meet state licensing requirements for BHTs/Para Professionals
• 21+ years old
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid AZ Driver's License & insurable driving record
• Ability to obtain an AZ DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (Unrestricted)

Qualifications

• Experience with at-risk youth or behavioral health populations
• Strong communication & documentation skills
• Comfort with structured environments
• Willingness to learn crisis intervention
