Therapeutic Recreation Aide

Responsibilities

• Delivers daily therapeutic programming aligned with each resident’s individualized plan of care.
• Tailors group and one-on-one activities to residents’ interests, abilities, and psychosocial needs.
• Encourages engagement and builds positive relationships with residents and families.
• Maintains activity calendars and adjusts schedules based on census changes.
• Assists with transporting and supporting residents during in-facility and off-site events.
• Helps volunteers contribute meaningful programming.
• Documents participation and progress.
• Contributes to care coordination.
• Ensures adherence to HIPAA, infection control standards, safety protocols, and QAPI requirements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates a genuine desire to work with seniors, including those with illnesses and disabilities, while advocating for their well-being.
• Strong ability to connect with residents, families, and staff through empathy, compassion, and active listening.
• Preferred background in healthcare settings, such as skilled nursing or assisted living.
• Skilled in multitasking, adapting to change, working in diverse and fast-paced environments, and communicating clearly in English.

About the Role

The Therapeutic Recreation Aide supports the Therapeutic Recreation Director by delivering daily therapeutic programming that aligns with each resident’s individualized plan of care and enhances their overall quality of life.
