About the role
The Therapeutic Integration Instructor supports children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in achieving individualized goals through structured therapeutic and recreational activities.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized service plans (ISPs) that address participants' therapeutic, behavioral, and social goals.
- Lead and support daily programming focused on social interaction, communication, emotional regulation, life skills, and recreation.
- Facilitate group and one-on-one activities that promote engagement and skill development in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Model positive behavior and utilize evidence-based strategies to reinforce appropriate social and adaptive skills.
- Collect data and document participant progress in alignment with program standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team-including therapists, behavior specialists, and families-to support holistic participant growth.
- Ensure safety, inclusion, and respect for all participants at all times.
- Participate in ongoing staff training and professional development sessions related to autism support, behavior management, and therapeutic interventions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in psychology, education, or related fields preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children or youth with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to foster positive relationships with participants, families, and team members.
- Able to implement structured activities while maintaining flexibility to meet individual needs.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, human services, or related field.
- Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), or similar behavioral approaches.
- Experience in a therapeutic recreation or integration setting.
