Therapeutic Behavioral Aide

About the role

As a Therapeutic Behavioral Aide at Health Connect America, you will deliver direct care services, offer behavioral guidance, and provide training and support to individuals in our programs. This role focuses on enhancing the functional, daily, and community living skills of individuals facing developmental disabilities, substance abuse issues, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Through personalized care and targeted interventions, you will play a crucial role in fostering independence and improving the quality of life for those you serve.

Responsibilities

• Provides one-on-one direct behavioral intervention with children/youth or support and training with individuals, including:
  • Serving as a positive role model for the child/youth
  • Providing time-structuring activities
  • Offering immediate behavioral reinforcements, including appropriate de-escalation techniques
  • Assisting with appropriate time-out strategies
  • Assisting the group leader in daily group activities
  • Implementing cognitive behavioral approaches
  • Helping individuals engage in, or remain engaged in, appropriate activities
  • Minimizing impulsive behavior
  • Increasing social and community competencies by building or reinforcing daily living skills
  • Assisting individuals in developing the ability to sustain self-directed appropriate behavior
  • Helping individuals internalize a sense of social responsibility and/or enable proactive participation in community activities
• Assists in developing behavioral treatment plans with input from the treatment team.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with individuals receiving services to ensure effective guidance, support, and service delivery.
• Ensures client safety during service provision and remains responsive to the client’s needs.
• Collaborates with caregivers and guardians, supporting their efforts to provide a positive environment for the individual.
• Verifies and ensures all required forms are completed and on file.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding the individual and family.
• Reports incidences of suspected child and elder abuse in compliance with mandated reporting requirements.
• Communicates professionally with clients, parents, and guardians.
• Attends and actively participates in ongoing supervision, treatment team meetings, and other required meetings or trainings.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct progress notes and other written records in accordance with program standards, company policies, and state agency requirements.
• Completes and submits all required documentation within the time frame established by company policy.
• May provide transportation for individuals receiving services to planned and/or necessary activities and appointments.
• Maintains confidentiality, respects human rights, and practices universal precautions.
• Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Requirements differ by state due to varying regulations and standards.

• Alabama
  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Previous experience in human services is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Must have a driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation. Driving record must be in good standing.
• Florida
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Experience working and/or interacting with children or adolescents in a professional or personal setting (preferred).
• North Carolina
  • High school diploma or GED (required); Associate’s degree (preferred).
  • Human services experience is preferred.
  • Must possess current CPR/FA, NCI certification, BBP training, or complete training and certification within the mandated time frame.
  • Must have a driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation. Driving record must be in good standing.
• Mississippi
  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Human services experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
