Therapeutic Behavioral Aide

About the role

As a Therapeutic Behavioral Aide, you will deliver direct care services, offer behavioral guidance, and provide training and support to individuals in Health Connect America programs. This role focuses on enhancing the functional, daily, and community living skills of individuals facing developmental disabilities, substance abuse issues, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Through personalized care and targeted interventions, you will play a crucial role in fostering independence and improving the quality of life for those you serve.

Responsibilities

• Provides one-on-one direct behavioral intervention with children/youth or support and training with individuals, including:
  • Serving as a positive role model
  • Providing time-structuring activities
  • Offering immediate behavioral reinforcements, including appropriate de-escalation techniques
  • Assisting with appropriate time-out strategies
  • Supporting group leader in daily group activities
  • Implementing cognitive behavioral approaches
  • Helping individuals engage in or remain engaged in appropriate activities
  • Minimizing impulsive behavior
  • Increasing social and community competencies by building or reinforcing daily living skills
  • Assisting in developing the ability to sustain self-directed appropriate behavior
  • Helping internalize a sense of social responsibility and/or enabling proactive participation in community activities
• Assists in developing behavioral treatment plans with input from the treatment team.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with individuals to ensure effective guidance, support, and service delivery.
• Ensures client safety during service provision and remains responsive to client needs.
• Collaborates with caregivers and guardians to support family efforts in providing a positive environment.
• Verifies and ensures all required forms are completed and on file.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding individuals and families.
• Reports suspected child and elder abuse in compliance with mandated reporting requirements.
• Communicates professionally with clients, parents, and guardians.
• Attends and actively participates in supervision, treatment team meetings, and required trainings.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct progress notes and other written records per program standards, company policies, and state requirements.
• Completes and submits all required documentation within established time frames.
• May provide transportation for individuals to planned and/or necessary activities and appointments.
• Maintains confidentiality, respects human rights, and practices universal precautions.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Requirements differ by state due to varying regulations and standards:

• Alabama
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Human services experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Must have driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation. Driving record must be in good standing.
• Florida
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working and/or interacting with children or adolescents in a professional or personal setting preferred.
• Mississippi
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Human services experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Must have driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation. Driving record must be in good standing.
• North Carolina
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Human services experience preferred.
  • Must possess current CPR/FA, NCI certification, BBP training, or complete training within mandated time frame.
  • Must have driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation. Driving record must be in good standing.
• Ohio
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Human services experience preferred.
  • Experience working and/or interacting with children or adolescents in a professional or personal setting preferred.
  • Must possess current CPR/FA certification or complete training within mandated time frame after hire.
  • Must have driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation. Driving record must be in good standing.
