About the role
The Theatrical Service & Repair Technician installs, maintains, and repairs theatrical equipment like lighting, sound, and projection systems, ensuring their safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
- Routine maintenance
- Conducting repairs on technical components
- Keeping accurate records
- Installing, setting up, and testing a wide range of theatrical equipment, including lighting fixtures, sound systems, video projectors, and stage rigging
- Performing regular inspections and preventative maintenance on all technical equipment
- Assisting customers to troubleshoot and repair faulty or broken equipment
- Replacing components and engaging with customers and vendors in-person, through email, and over the phone
- Maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of technical storage areas and workspaces
- Pulling and prepping rental equipment, picking up and dropping off equipment
- Resolving customer issues
- Contributing to the operation and maintenance of technical equipment
Requirements
- Strong understanding of electrical and technical systems
- The ability to read technical diagrams
- Proficiency with various hand and power tools
- Computer literate and comfortable using a computer for various tasks
- Experience with and understanding of theatrical lighting, sound, and video systems
- Ability to perform minor electrical repairs, soldering, and other mechanical tasks
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain records, and keep a workspace organized
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Meticulous eye for detail to ensure thorough inspections, and accurate repairs
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to be clear and concise via phone, email, and in person effectively interact with staff, customers, and other departments
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation required
- Able to work steadily at a computer for long periods of time
- Able to operate hand and power tools
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs without assistance
- Able to frequently climb and descend stairs and ladders and to work safely at heights
- Able to perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations
Qualifications
- Computer literate and comfortable using a computer for various tasks
- Preferably proficient in Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite)
